Our story

Why We Built It

Operating systems like Windows, MacOS, and Linux never had generative or agentic AI in mind when they were developed. GPUs were never found in data centers and they definitely were not used by multi-user enterprise level systems. Enterprise level data center resource planning and capacity management caught sysadmins by surprise and contributed to failed AI projects.

Access control and security within Linux were designed for applications and humans and never had AI agents, MCP Servers, and AI Memory systems as something they needed to support. Managing GPU resources, inference, and autonomous AI agents were something that the designers of Linux never expected.

AI-enabled software development, AI based applications, and local open-weight models dramatically shifted the world of DevOps and SysOps. Suddenly software engineers had to build functionality that belongs in the operating system into the application layer, making deployment of AI-enabled applications at the enterprise level a challenge.

MaluOS changes that by integrating AI agent management, workflows, and AI Memory into the operating system where it belongs. MaluOS brings AI system administration and security management back alongside Linux system administration and database administration, making IT management normal again.

What is in it

Everything agents and people need, in one install

MaluDB memory system

An enterprise level institutional memory system supporting relational, graph, and vector search using OS level MCPs and APIs. Built on Postgres and also supports Oracle.

Local Inference Queuing

Queues, routes, and manages inference requests to local GPUs, with optional cloud model overflow routing. No more servers crashing from GPU overload.

MaluDb Application Framework

Choose from over 50 Memory First, Ask Me Anything application templates to get started. All with 100% MCP coverage and expert AI agents to support them.

Agent-native shell

A malu command layer with permissioned actions and an audit trail.

Local-first privacy

Data stays on your machine unless you explicitly send it elsewhere.

Open-source core

A transparent Linux base you can inspect, extend, and fork.

Download

Run it yourself

MaluOS Desktop

Free live ISO for x86-64, with the memory core, local model runtime, Application Framework, and agent shell.

MaluOS Server

Free headless image for x86-64 and ARM64, tuned for always-on agents, with remote/multi-user access and container/VM support.
